Train to Gain NVQ Awards Not only are MCS great investors in plant and machinery so that their clients receive the best possible service, they are also investors in people, as proven in April 2008, with six MCS staff completing NVQ qualifications in Manufacturing Operations.
Engineering and Production Manager, Andrew Lambert explains, "I evaluated the workshop and realised that we needed to increase the understanding of CAD. Having undergone some research, I found that six members of the MCS team were eligible for Train to Gain funding at Bromsgrove Technical College".
Four of the students achieved Level 2 qualifications, the other two achieving Level 3, one of which has gone on to study advanced AutoCAD as a result. Management at MCS are delighted with the outcome of the training. Sales Director, Warren Gray explains, "Obviously the training has benefited MCS by increasing the skill set on the shop floor, but thatÂ’s really not what this was about. Achieving recognised qualifications has really had an effect on the staff involved, having realised the stature of their own skills and their value to MCS. The motivation, happiness and self-fulfilment of our staff is something we regard very highly, and we thoroughly intend to get involved in more training schemes like this in due course."
The courses lasted nine months, being completed in April 2008. The presentation of the awards was extremely memorable for those involved, as Redditch MP and Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith was on hand to present the awards. |
