The MCS & ABX Partnership

In September 2007, senior management at Machined Component Systems, Redditch, Worcestershire, celebrated the installation of a brand new piece of machinery.

Warren Gray and Miyano

The state of the art ‘Miyano ABX 64 TH2’ is an ABX turn/mill centre that manufactures extremely complicated components in one efficient setup. One of only eight in the whole of the UK, the ABX is a tremendous asset, containing 36 tools and 12 different stations. A new era of CNC machining has arrived.

Always quick to provide an appropriate and up to date service, MCS has established working relationships with Miyano UK and Qualitool. This affiliation with the two suppliers increases driven tool speeds, which in turn increases productivity. MCS are also investigating an advanced high-pressure coolant unit, with a view to installing a roller burnishing and gun drilling to the machine. These factors will reduce already outstanding lead times, adding even more value to the MCS experience.

As a direct outcome of the above progressions, MCS is developing another new component of huge complexity. The component has over 120 different features and is produced by the ABX. At times, all 3 turrets are in cut whilst the machine uses 25 different tools, with tolerance of sub 20 microns. The partnership between MCS and the Miyano ABX is ever growing in strength and ability, assisting MCS to further their campaign to remain competitive on the global market.
